Over the summer, six technology students, sophomore Alex Barnes, juniors Roni Lubofsky, Ashlea Walker, Karlie DeBerard and seniors Brooke Rathbun and Hari Tammana along with technology teacher Debbie Tawzer will be attending the Technology Student Association National Conference in Florida.
“All of them qualified to compete at the National level by winning events at the state level,” Tawzer said.
While they are there, they will be competing in the national T.S.A. Conference, while also spending some time at Disney World.
“I’m looking forward to going to Disney World on the TSA National Trip. I’ve never been and I heard it’s incredible,” Lubofsky said.
Lubofsky is an elected Colorado State Reporter for the state conference this year, along with DeBerard. All of the state officers attend Nationals in order to help organize all of the Colorado members, among other duties.
The technology students will be attending the conference for 10 days over the summer and will have a chance to try to take home some medals.
“I’m excited about the trip. We brought home one gold medal last year and are hoping for maybe two this year,” Tawzer said.
At nationals in Nashville last year Rathbun placed first in Desktop Publishing and is returning to try for another medal.
“I’m looking forward to competing and just having fun with all the T.S.A. members and I hope to possibly win some medals,” Tammana said.
On the trip, there will be many different competitions that they’ll be competing in such as technology problem solving.
“I don’t think I can imagine not doing anything technology related during our time off since I am so passionate about it,” Walker said. “The pure fact that I’ll be doing something such as competing against so many people from across the country, inspires me to keep going with what I have wanted to do for so long.”
