Lady Titans’ Basketball started out their season with a 48-44 win over the Greeley West Spartans at the Coliseum last night.
In a tightly contested battle, Legend was able to out score the Spartans 14-10 in the fourth quarter behind the play of junior Kaitlin Ludwig.
The Titans’ guard totaled 13 points on the offensive end and also contributed on defense with five steals, one of which came in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter.
Junior Kristen Gallagher also sunk key free throws late in the game.
The varsity team’s next match-up will be on the road Dec. 5 against Eaglecrest who will be playing their second night in a row.
Both the JV and C teams won their games against Greeley West by big margins.

Legend students laughed, awed, and applauded the evening of Nov. 19 as they watched the much anticipated Girls’ Swim team’s first ever teacher talent show.
With only three prizes available, the competition was fierce and included a wide array of acts. From singing to dancing to guitar, the talent show included a little bit of everything.
At the end of the night, the third place position went to Science teacher Josh Morris with his moving remake of Katy Perry’s “Firework.” The song had audience members up on their feet, clapping and stomping to the beat, and singing or humming the lyrics right in tune with Morris. Legend Junior and Swim Team member Ryan Sotebeer has to say her favorite act of the night would be “Mr. Morris singing ‘Firework’ because it was funny and got the crowd involved.”
Second place was awarded to highly deserving English teacher Amanda Bucher with her intense old school dance routine. The quick moves and complicated maneuvers had the crowd sitting on the edge of their seats as Bucher owned the stage.
Legend Swim’s first ever teacher talent champion title went to the Math Department as they moved and grooved their way on set with an electrical Stickman Dance. As the lights went down and the crowd hushed, the lit-up silhouettes of math department teachers evaded the dark as they danced to the tune of hit songs such as V.I.C.’s “Wobble” and other memorable classics. To achieve such a stellar performance, the group attached a multitude of glow sticks to black clothing and then proceeded to dominate the stage.
Besides the top three finishers, other honorable mentions include multiple singing solos and duets, social studies teacher and swim coach Karen Johnson’s rap routine, and the Social Studies Department’s last minute dance. Three of the judges, Dakota Marley, Alex Ausmus, and MJ Atchey, even took to the stage in an epic dance battle against the Social Studies Department, ultimately resulting in the victory of the student judges.
Beginning the tradition of the Teacher Talent Show relayed momentous success for the Swim Team who will be using “this fundraiser towards beneficial purchases like buying equipment and such,” Sotebeer said.
The team believes “the talent show was really successful, at least for a starter.” Goals for next year’s show include “trying to promote the event and getting more teachers to participate,” Sotebeer said.
The talent show was filled with lots of laughter, unmatched talent, and an overall fun atmosphere. For those who could not make it to the show, much entertainment and enjoyment was missed.
