Love at first sight is known as something that only happens in the movies, or once in a lifetime. For seniors Sarah Knaub and Zachari Griswold, love at first sight was real. They met each other in eighth grade at Cimarron Middle School. With the help of a mutual friend, Sarah and Zach met each other, and sparks flew.

“He’s got such a charming smile,” Knaub said. They became an official couple on Apr. 1st, 2010.

For their first date, they did the classic movie date. They had a great time laughing and having fun. They spend a lot of their dates going out to eat at IHOP and other restaurants.

Relationships at high school are usually seen as something that doesn’t last very long. But for this particular couple, it’s different. They’ve dated for almost 4 years.

“The secret is that we don’t get other people involved in our relationship,” said Knaub. They are dedicated to the relationship and are best friends.

A particularly memorable date for Knaub was her birthday last year. For her birthday in October, they went ice skating and had a great time.

“We were laughing and falling all over the place,” said Knaub.

Since this is Knaub and Griswold’s last year of high school, they have made plans for each other in the future. They are both attending UCCS and plan on eventually getting married. Their families get along really well and support their relationship.

“My parents love him,” said Knaub.

Darian Mahood and Tyler Fast

You’re in class, half-listening to your middle teacher talk about poetry. You look around the room, and you see someone that catches your eye. You’ve talked to her before and you think she’s really funny. She’s unique. This is what went through Tyler Fast’s head the first time he met Darian Mahood, his current girlfriend, in eighth grade Language Arts.

“She was different. I loved her personality and I thought she was hilarious,” said Fast.

Over time, Mahood and Fast ended up having feelings for each other. However, Mahood’s mom didn’t allow her to be in a relationship until a year later. On Feb. 10, 2011 Fast and Mahood became official.

“Our first date was at Texas Roadhouse. I was pretty nervous even though we had been together for over a year,” said Fast.

The term “opposites attract” is partially true in this relationship. They don’t have that much in common, but what they do have in common, is something very important; their faith.

“We’re complete opposites,” said Mahood. “But we try to have God in our relationship.

Mahood and Fast’s parents have met each other, and get along. Fast’s parents think Mahood is hilarious.

They spend most of their dates at Texas Roadhouse, talking and laughing about anything that comes to mind. They’re both always there for each other.

Fast’s favorite quality about Mahood is that “she not only wants to be [his] girlfriend, but [his] best friend as well.”

Mahood’s favorite quality about Fast is that “he his very caring towards everybody. He’s the nicest person [she] has ever met. He’s great.”

Since they’re both juniors, there’s still time, but they have made plans for their future. They both plan on going to the same college.

“I’d definitely love to marry her and go to the same college,” said Fast.
