Top Ten Movies and TV Shows of 2013

2013 was filled with great TV, movies, and music that won the hearts of audiences and critics alike. They made us laugh, they made us cry, and they made us yell in rage and frusteration. Here are our top ten picks from the past year.

Movies:

1. 12 Years a Slave R

A free man is kidnapped and forced into slavery under a cruel slave owner. Based on the memoirs of a slave named Solomon Northup.

2. Gravity PG-13

After a mission to work on the international space station goes wrong, an astronaut is stranded in space and has to find a way home.

3. American Hustle R

The story of an infamous con man and his partner who are forced to work for a wild FBI agent.

4. Wolf of Wall Street R

Based on the true story of Jordan Belfort and his rise to fame before his fall into crime.

5. Her R

The story of a lonely writer who forms an unexpected relationship with his computer operating system that’s programmed to meet his every need.

 

TV Shows:

1. Breaking Bad TV-14

The story of a chemistry teacher, diagnosed with lung cancer, teaming up with a former student to make the world’s purest crystal meth in order to provide for his family.

2. Game of Thrones TV MA

Based on George RR Martin’s series of novels, Game of Thrones tells the story of seven families fighting over rule of the mystical land of Westeros.

3. Mad Men TV-14

The story of one of New York’s most well known Ad Agencies. The show focuses on the Agencies’ executive, Donald Draper.

4. Downton Abbey NR

Centered around the Crawley family and their servants, the show is set in the years leading up to World War I.

5. The Good Wife TV-14

After her husband goes to jail, litigator Alicia Florrick has to return to work in a law firm to support her family.
