Despite a late sixth inning rally, Legend Titans’ baseball drops their third straight as they fell to the Rock Canyon Jaguars 4-2 at Double Angle Field on Wednesday night.
Junior Dakota Marley did it all in the effort, pitching the first complete game of his varsity career, allowing four runs on six hits. As well as a 2-4 afternoon at the plate, where he doubled, walked, and batted in the Titans’ two lone runs.
Although they faced one of the top pitching teams in 5A baseball, Legend struggled offensively—an area where Head Coach Scott Fellers’ team has been relatively inconsistent up to this point in the season.
That combined with a chilly night and Rock Canyon junior, Bryce Dietz’s dominant performance on the mound, limited a young Titan lineup to just three total hits. The
Titans will conclude the 2014 campaign playing four out of their final six games at home, starting with a three-game home stand that kicks off with a visit from league leading Mountain Vista (12-1) on Friday.
With the Golden Eagles having only allowed 39 runs against this year, the lowest mark in 5A, Legend will be better off finding their bats sooner then later as their next five games will be against teams sharing a combined record of 45-20.
