With “The 39 Steps” the Theater Department Steps Into the Comic Realm

The Theater Department’s first attempt at a comedy succeeded, according to the newspaper staff.  Here are some of their favorite funny moments from The 39 Steps, which ran Oct. 4-6.

“The funniest scene would probably be either the hotel scene or when Annabel Schmidt died. The awkwardness in both was so funny, I couldn’t stop laughing!” -Rachel Pearson, sophomore

“[The funniest part was] Jake Taylor and Alanna Strong in Act 1 with the Mr. Memory act!” –Kyra Ferguson, sophomore

“The funniest part of the play was when Austin picked up the phone and it wouldn’t stop ringing!” – Alexis Stuckey, junior

“The funniest thing I thought was when the baby dropped away from Tasha!” – Jazzy Welling, senior

“[The funniest part was when] Austin wiggled out of the chair!” – Kailey Heiter, junior

“The funniest part was when they were fighting on the train!”  – Laura Babb, sophomore

“I thought the funniest scene was when the sheep were passing by in front of the ‘car’. I didn’t stop laughing!” – Kati Dann, sophomore

“I thought Cody Conway’s Scottish woman hotel owner was hilarious.  The red wig, the kilt, the walk, the accent, and how “she” kind of creeped out Austin’s character—it all just cracked me up.” – Mrs. Carrie Denman, newspaper adviser
